TV aerial & Sky satellite installation services - WANTAGE

TV aerial & Sky satellite installation services in the Wantage areaTV Reception Conditions

The centre of the town of Wantage lies in a dip and reception in the centre of the town is less good than on the outskirts. Having said that, the town is reasonably near to the Oxford transmitter and the land over towards Oxford is flat so digital reception works in virtually the whole town.  The worst part of the town for reception is the Charlton Heights area. In this part of Wantage a digital aerial installation will tend to involve a tall mast and a high gain aerial. In the rest of the town a standard aerial will deliver good digital signals. In some towns there is a choice of TV transmitters, so that an alternative is available if a tree or tall building blocks signals from the main transmitter.

This is not generally the case in Wantage - as the second nearest transmitter is to the south and signals are blocked by the Downs. In the one or two spots where signals are tricky to receive we can now provide a dish installation to deliver the BBC / ITV freesat service. A satellite dish installation can be cheaper and more discreet than a TV aerial installation in these areas. Our digital aerial installers are also satellite TV installers and so can carry out either installation depending on which is more suitable.

Oxford Aerials provides a complete Sky satellite installation service and is an approved Sky registered agent. We provide domestic and commercial tv aerial installation services. No job too big or small. Call 01865 400141 for a free quotation.

Local Television Reception Conditions

To the north of Wantage, around Grove, Hanney and Denchworth where the land is flat, television reception is excellent and standard aerial installations deliver good digital signals. Also, TV aerial repairs tend to be cheaper than in bad reception areas. To the south of Wantage television reception becomes very patchy moving into the Berkshire Downs. Reception is good on the high ground and poor in the low areas. Lambourn is particularly difficult and so has its own local transmitter. This transmitter delivers only analogue signals and will not deliver digital TV until the 2011 switchover.

The village of Ginge to the east of Wantage has very poor reception and this is somewhere where digital reception is now best received via a satellite dish installation.
