Woodstock is very near to the Oxford transmitter which is in the village of Beckley, to the north of the city. Most of Woodstock therefore receives good analogue and digital signals. The signals are strong enough to split the signals to feed several TV points in a house, from a single digital aerial installation without the use of an amplifier. The exception to this good reception zone is the north of the town where the ground drops as you leave the town on the Enstone road and signals from Oxford are blocked by the hill. The worst reception of all is Lower Brook Hill. This road has possibly the worst TV reception in Oxfordshire. In the past we have directed aerials to four different regional transmitters to get reception in this road. (Oxford, Sandy Heath - Bedford, Birmingham and Hannington – Newbury.) This is now an area where we would now carry out a satellite dish installation to receive the new BBC / ITV freesat service instead. This can be more economical than new TV aerial installations and aerial repairs in this part of Woodstock.

Local Television Reception Conditions
Most of the villages around Woodstock have good television reception due to the flat ground and the close proximity to the local Oxford transmitter. The main exception is Bladon which lies in a dip and trees screen the village from the television signals from Oxford. This is also an area where we now often recommend a satellite installation instead of a TV aerial.
